As identified by the board of AlpValleys in the current Business Plan, there is a need to develop a credible water “voice”for agribusiness in the region.
To this end, Alp Valleys will convene a community meeting this year to auspice the formation of a North East Irrigation Water Users Network, (for want of a better name), with the aim that it identify relevant issues and processes that might need improvement or clarification.
At the same time, Alp Valleys has requested the formation of a North East Water Policy Group, consisting of the relevant authorities.
Alp Valleys would take the issues forward from the irrigators group to the policy group, so that responsible change could be implemented for the betterment of agribusiness in the North East.
