Norvic - Case Study

Norvic Food Processing Pty Ltd is based at 54 Kelly Street Wodonga and processes 70,000 cattle, 850,000 sheep/lambs, 150,000 bobby calves, 180,000 goats and 5,000 deer per annum. All products are 100% processed for export which generates up to $250 million in export sales per annum. Frozen product is exported to USA, Canada, Mexico, Japan, China, Korea, Indonesia and the Middle East. The abattoir is Halal accredited. All livestock is sourced from a 200km radius of the processing facility with significant quantities processed from the Wagga Wagga saleyards.

The plant employs 500 full time workers operating two shifts per day, 5 ½ days per week. Labour shortage presents a large problem with a further 150 jobs capable of being created if the labour was available.

Norvic utilizes Lewington’s to transport stock from saleyards to the abattoir. The refrigerated product is transported by Roadmaster and Don Watson Transport to Melbourne port.

As a processor Norvic does not market actively because of guaranteed export contracts in place.
